My Story

Hi! My name is CJ (she/her), and welcome to my creative cache. I'm not a professional artist or creator, but this website is a way for me to show my work to friends, family, potential collaborators, and more. It contains art and accomplishments I'm very proud of.

I grew up in New York City, and have lived in Chicago for just over four years now. I'm an urban person through and through, and couldn't imagine my life without a background hum of people, cars, and activity. I'm a college graduate with a degree in linguistics, and a focus on the intersection of language and technology. Currently, I'm in my mid-20s, and work for an academic search engine as a linguistic coder/programmer. Despite all my projects, I have no desire to rely on my creative pursuits for income.

As someone with ADHD, I tend to flit between many creative pursuits without sticking to one in particular. This is one of the reasons why I have experience in many fields, rather than focusing on just one. However, I love creativity in all its forms, and part of what I love about art is understanding every part of it: painting, budgeting, building, marketing, keeping and setting up a space for said art, etc. Hopefully, I'll never stop learning!

I want to make art that brings people happiness, rest, and peace. I want to make art that helps people understand their past, what they long for, and why they long for it. I want to make art that brings out emotions so deep, you never forget them. I want to make art that brings others a sense of belonging. Hopefully, some of this comes through.
